so i like the idea of him ending up on this whole path towards things he's not supposed to know -- likely he's experienced a lot of weird shit?? enough that he's been tapped as someone to keep on eye on or possibly something where he's already been involved in shit going on with whatever agency and he doesn't even realize he was. then something happens, some specific event -- the campground?? and that's when they're like WHOA HEY BUDDY HEY HI THIS IS YOUR NEW FRIEND JOE HE'S GONNA HANG OUT WITH YOU except it's just eli joe turning up at whatever setup totally playing it chill as fuck and trying to find out what he knows and trying even harder to keep him from digging any deeper. only THAT'S NOT HOW SHIT WORKS YA FEEL
